In support of the health and safety of the Paideia Community, cloth face coverings are required on all Paideia campuses.
Summer reading is a simple way to engage your scholar and prevent them from losing what they learned during the school year. Continuing to read not only leads to greater retention of knowledge, but it also increases comprehension and positive self-esteem. Research has shown that students who read over the summer come back to school more prepared to be successful in the next grade level.
We recommend many literacy activities such as visiting the library, starting a family book club, and holding your scholar accountable for reading throughout the summer. Our summer reading list provides a list of books to keep your scholar’s mind engaged while preparing them for the next school year.
During the summer, scholars are to read six books at or above their Lexile or grade level. Scholars are required to complete a book report for each of the six books. You can download and print a copy of the book report to be completed below. These book reports will be turned in during the first week of school.
On the Summer Reading List PDF below, you can find the list of books for your scholar's grade level by scrolling down and finding the appropriate heading. Please carefully read the directions under your scholar's reading list to ensure the summer reading expectations are met. You can find these books at the local library, online, or in any bookstore.
